Written in Berlin between the two World Wars as Nazism was on the rise, Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's popular ‘poor people’s opera’ - in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann - remains timely today as a fierce yet playful critique of capitalism.

In the 76/77 Season, Fabià Puigserver and Carles Santos brought Brecht to the stage of the Lliure de Gràcia with Rise and
Fall of the City of Mahagonny
. Fifty years later, the Galician director Marta Pazos—in cahoots with the musical director Dani Espasa, and with a new translation by Marc Rosich—revives this German playwright in the Montjuïc theatre to show us why the classics are our contemporaries.

Mack the Knife is returning to Barcelona with The Threepenny Opera: a tribute, a celebration and a furious warning cry.

A show that premieres at the Festival Grec 2026, also on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
